Easter Wreath

I love the look of all the spring themed wreaths.  I don't always put one up for every season, but at the craft store the recently I fell in love with a fun Easter wreath.  What I didn't love was the $17.99 price.  It was made from a feather boa and had Easter  eggs in the feathers.  I thought about making one myself, but by the time I bought the supplies it would have cost almost as much as the pre-made version.   While at Target this weekend, I saw colorful shower puffs in packs of 2 in the Dollar Spot.  They were in pretty spring colors like pink, light blue, and purple.  Then I had an idea...

I really couldn't hang a wreath made from feathers in the elements, because it would most likely get ruined.  I could, however, put a wreath made of a material that is supposed to be in water.

All of the supplies with the exception of the ribbon were only $1 each.  I bought the straw wreath and pack of mini Easter eggs at the Dollar Tree.  The shower puffs are in the Dollar Spot at Target.  I bought 6 packs and ended up with an extra puff.   I really loved the blue color, but so did everyone else because there were not enough left  to make a wreath.  I also really liked the pink, and there were plenty in stock.

When I first started the wreath, I tied on each puff.

When they are all on the wreath, they look more like flowers than shower puffs

The puffs seemed a little loose when just tied on, so I secured them with a little bit of thread.

The mini eggs had small little holes in the tops and bottoms.  When I saw them, I knew they would be perfect to  use a little thread to stitch them onto the wreath.  It only took a minute or two to attach each egg.

I love this wired glitter ribbon I found at Michaels crafts.  It is new in stock this spring.  It was kind of pricey, but on a really big roll.  It was on sale for $6 and I had a 20% off entire order coupon.  If you buy it with one of their 40% off one item coupons, it would be really reasonably priced. I used a couple of stitches to secure the ribbon to the wreath.

I hung in on the wall at first because I didn't want to open the front door.  It is COLD outside again.   After having 2 weeks in the 70s ad 80s,  a morning in the 30s is quite a shock.

I really like my new Easter wreath. It makes the porch look more like spring.

I will be linking up on these awesome blogs. Check the Linky Parties HERE

This boa wreath from Chatelaine is similar to the Easter wreath I saw at the craft store.  I definitely like the idea of using dollar store boas.  Mine did not have any at this time, but I will be stocking up at Halloween!
