Changing Table to Party Table
For many years, my kids' baby furniture sat in storage. A few years ago I decided it was time to let it go, and put it in the garage sale. There was some interest in the changing table, but it did not end up selling. Since it came in handy to put things on it's shelves, the changing table found a home in the garage. Just before this year's garage sale, I had an idea. Why not redo the changing table, so I would be able to use it again. I did use it in the garage sale to hold items, and left the sticker on just in case someone really needed it. When someone was actually interested in buying it, in my head I was thinking...No! I want to keep it now! They decided not to buy it, because they were not sure if the person having a baby already had one or not.
I had been thinking about painting it a pretty blue or turquoise color, so I was thrilled when I found something very close at Home Depot for only $7.
I had to remove the top bar which came off easily with just a screwdriver, and remove the strap.
Once it was ready, I brought it in the house. (after using the vacuum cleaner, so nothing extra came in the house with it)
It was the perfect size to hold all of our art supplies and goodies without taking up too much room.
I will be linking up my new party table on these wonderful linky parties here!
Dare to Share #67
Normally this is when I say, it's Friday so you know what that means. As you know this is not a normal week, so instead... It's Saturday, it's time for Dare to Share.
The Art party is currently going on. Kara has 3 of her best friends over for a night of creative fun. Right now they are sitting at the kitchen table enjoying some painting time.
One reason why our week was not normal is from an overnight ordeal on Wednesday night. It has thrown off our entire week, and we are still trying to get back in to our routine. On Wednesday we were heading to the Toledo train station to pick up my mom. We decided to stop at Cabelas on the way, and spend a few hours doing something we had never done before. They have incredible animals exhibits, and even an aquarium in their store. Kyle really liked seeing this big brown bear up close. While we were there my mom called to say that they had left the Chicago station on time. We were excited about that, because we did not want to repeat the 2-3 hour delay that happened last time. If we only knew that our night was going to be much, much worse this time around. Unfortunately, there had been a freight train derailment on the Indiana/Ohio border. The engineers on her train knew of the derailment, but decided to leave anyway. Someone had made the decision to reroute her train on the freight train's track. This decision ended up being a colossal mistake! When we got to the station, we were told that they were hoping for a 1 a.m. arrival time. All of the stations they had missed by being rerouted, sent their passengers to Toledo by bus, causing the station to become very crowded. 1 a.m. came and went. We were then told, 2 a.m., 2:45 a.m., and 3:45 a.m. Around that time the passengers who were to get on my mom's train when it finally arrived were given their tickets, since they had been bused in. They were also told that the train would be here shortly. Around 4 a.m., we were all surprised to find out that the train that had left Chicago 4 hours LATER than the train we were waiting for, was now arriving. We were told since our train was being rerouted and needed to back into the station that it would have to wait until the other train left. That train left the station around 4:30 a.m. We were told that the train were nearby, but that was not the case. It finally pulled into the station around 6:15 a.m. Seven plus hours later than they were supposed to arrive. The passengers who should have had a 4 hour ride, instead were on the train for almost 12 hours. We then had to wait another good 30 minutes for her bags, and then had an hour drive home. We finally arrived home at 7:40 a.m. Since it was extremely difficult to sleep in a train station, none of us had any sleep that night. The kids slept the entire day after we got home. I only had 4 hours of sleep, because I had a lot to get done. I am still not fully back on my normal schedule.
Because of our crazy week, I also did not have much computer time. I was able to get in a couple of amazing features this week. Did you have a chance to see them? If you didn't here is another chance.

Where's the Party?
You may be wondering where tonight's Dare to Share link up is. Due to our real life party, the linky party is going to be postponed until Saturday night. It's crunch time here, and I still have a long to do list before the our Art Party starts. Tonight I have been busy working on some last minute projects that I can not wait to share with you.. They will have to wait just a bit though. It is almost 3 a.m. here, and I really need to get some sleep. Hope to see you here on Saturday night!

We are Party Prepping!
We made a giant mess! |
I know I have been kind of quiet the last few days on the blog. Even though I have not been posting much, I have been busy behind the scenes. Our Art themed party is in a few days. I thought I would get give you a glimpse of a few things we have been working on. A few days ago we started a
project that I hope will be done in time. We made a very colorful mess in the kitchen.. We are still not 100% sure this project will work out, but it is looking good so far.
We went to the grand opening our of Michaels store when it moved to a new location last weekend. It is now so much bigger and brighter. I found a few of these beauties on clearance. They will have a special use at the party.
I hope to make something really cool with these dollar store items, if I don't run out of time.
I also plan on doing something really cool with this. I would have already started it, but it has been way too hot outside to work on it.
I will be doing something with the gallon of Oops paint from Home Depot. Any guesses to what it could be?
We sorted out a lot of the supplies I have been accumulating the last few months. There are just a few things I still need to pick up this week.
In addition to preparing for the party, and getting ready for grandma's visit, we have also been interviewing Orthodontists. Someone really needs braces, and now is the perfect time to get them. We are still thinking things over, but hopefully we will start the process soon.
Now I must get back to work.

Mini Cheesecakes with Dulce de Leche and Oreos - Feature of the Day
Looking through the Dare to Share party, I did a double take on Winnie's cheesecakes from Something Sweet. When I first saw the picture, I thought to myself, is that cheesecake smiling at me? After looking a bit closer, I realized, yes it really is smiling. What looks like an ordinary cheesecake on top, has this adorable sweet surprise on the bottom. There is just so many fun things going on with Winnie's cheesecake recipe that you can see in full on her blog here. Thanks so much for linking up to Dare to Share Winnie!

Dare to Share #66
It's once again Friday night which means it is Dare to Share time!
What have you been up to this week?
The week started with my Deck Planters that I did for Miracle Gro. I absolutely love them. I think next spring, I am going to look for a few more hanging planters because they really brighten up the deck.
Do you follow me on Instagram? If you do, you saw the funny thing that happened during our local outdoor showing of Despicable Me last weekend. We wanted to watch the first movie again, so it was fresh in our minds when we watch part two this upcoming week.
Also this week, we celebrated Kara's actual birthday. We are hard at work on her Art themed party. We have a lot of fun things to share with you, once we get them done. We have been using our Art Party Pinterest Board for inspiration.
Next came the 4th of July. I went through some of my old posts, and came across one of my favorite summer desserts. 4th of July Strawberry Pie is a treat that my kids love. Everytime I make one, it disappears real fast. I am thinking I need to make another one real soon.
I also shared another one of my favorite posts. While technically I did not make my Hedgehog Watermelon for the 4th of July, it would be fun to serve anytime during the summer.
Today I shared a post for Kleenex Hand towels on why they are perfect for summer parties and house guests. When a lot of people are using the bathroom, regular towels become damp and dirty real fast. We plan on using them for our upcoming party when the house is filled with tween girls.
Even with everything going on this week, we still had some awesome features. In case you missed them the first time, here is your chance to see them again.
Wizard of Oz Birthday Party by Kims Kandy Kreations
Copycat Pottery Barn Buffet by Don't Mess With My Tutus
Graduation Party Ideas by Naptime Nothings
Now it is time for this week's party. I don't have a lot of rules. I don't require that you follow to link up, but I would sure love it if you did. It would also be great if you shared about the party so more people come by and visit. There is a link on the buttons page if you would like one. If you are chosen as a Feature of the Day, your post will be shared on the blog, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and G+.
Now it is time to link up and HAVE FUN!
Why Kleenex Hand Towels are Great for Company
Disclosure: I received free product samples and other goodies from Kleenex Hand Towels to do this review. All opinions are 100% mine.
I recently heard from Kleenex Hand Towels asking me if I would be if I would be interested in being a Kleenex Hand Towels Ambassador. Would I?! Of course I would! I have used Kleenex products for many years, and knew they were a quality brand. They had also contacted me at the perfect time. See there is a certain someone in the picture above who just had a birthday. She has invited several of her friends over for an upcoming slumber party. We are waiting until after the 4th of July holiday to have the party, since everyone is busy with their families. In addition to an upcoming party with a houseful of tween girls, we also have house guests staying with us this month.
A lot of times the hand towels that are hanging on the towel bar in the main bathroom, end up laying on the counter like this. I hang them back up, and then a few hours later they are on the counter again. This leaves them damp, and not very clean. I don't know about you, but I don't like drying my hands on an already damp towel. I am sure our house guests don't as well.
What is great about Kleenex hand towels is you can sit the box right on the towel bar, and easily grab just want you need. Using a fresh towel each time is much more hygienic, especially when a lot of people are washing their hands. I also really like that each towel is extremely soft and absorbent, so you can get your hands thoroughly dry. They are also free of ink, dyes, and fragrances which is great for people with allergies. We will definitely be using our Kleenex Hand Towels during the slumber party. They really are an easy way to get the bathroom ready for a party. Kleenex Hand Towels can be found nationwide in most grocery stores and mass retailers. A 60 count box is $2.99 which makes the towel just a few pennies a piece.

Graduation Party Ideas- Feature of the Day
Are you all partied out from the 4th of July? I hope not since I have a fun party as today's Feature of the Day. Sarah from Naptime Nothings shared a graduation party that she planned for her little sister. It looks like they had a lot of fun. I really like what she did with the fruit tart that she made. We might be doing something that like for Kara's Art Party next week. To see the full party and that fabulous fruit tart you can see it Naptime Nothings here. Thanks so much for linking up on Dare to Share Sarah!

Watermelon Hedgehog
I am sharing another oldie, but goodie that could be a lot of fun to make today, or really anytime you eat watermelon.
Last year I made this watermelon hedgehog for my daughter's Woodland Party in honor of her new pet hedgehog. It was so much fun, and the kids loved it. This would be a great way to present your watermelon today or any time you serve watermelon. It actually is pretty easy to make. You can see my full tutorial HERE.

4th of July Strawberry Pie
When I was going through my old posts looking for 4th of July ideas, I came across one of my favorite desserts. (I can't believe I didn't post this sooner!) This is a red, white and blue, easy to make strawberry pie that is a great for bbqs, picnics or just because. When I made this for 4th of July two years ago, the entire pie disappeared quickly because the kids loved it so much. You can see the full recipe here. I think I am going to have to make one for tomorrows cookout.
Copycat Buffet - Feature of the Day
Did you see the Copycat Pottery Barn Buffet by Jen from Don't Mess With My Tutus? Oh my, I am really impressed! I actually like her buffet that she redid for very little money, much better than the one from Pottery Barn. You will need to stop by her blog here, to see how she transformed her buffet from something someone left behind to this wonderful piece of furniture. Thank you so much for linking up to Dare to Share Jen!

Wizard of Oz Birthday Party - Feature of the Day
There are a couple of reasons why I chose the Wizard of Oz Birthday party by Kims Kandy Creations as today's Feature of the Day. Not only do I absolutely love The Wizard of Oz, but it also the day we are celebrating someone's actual birthday. (who also happens to love the movie) We even love the movie, Oz, The Great and Powerful. It was filmed in our state not far from our house, and one of her classmates is actually one of the extras, Kim went into great detail in setting up her Land of Oz dessert table. I think my favorite part is the"tornado" and swirly pops. To see all of Kim's Wizard of Oz Creations be sure to check out her website here. Thanks so much for linking up to Dare to Share Kim!
