Countdown to Christmas - Easy Chocolate Banana Pie

 I heard on the news that today is National Pie Day.  Since it is a special day to celebrate pies, I thought I would share one that would work well for your upcoming holiday celebrations. 

This chocolate banana cream pie is easy to put together, and great to serve to guests. I love the blending of the chocolate and banana taste in this pie.  While I have not tried to do so yet, I'm thinking about  also trying to make it with other flavors. If I do, I will definitely be posting it. 

You will need 

Graham Cracker Crust 

1-2 bananas

small box of chocolate pudding 

small box of banana pudding 

1 3/4 cups of milk 

1 cup of sour cream 

chocolate chips (optional) 

Whipped topping 

Slice the bananas, and lay them on the bottom of the pie crust. 

In a mixing bowl, add both boxes of pudding, the milk, and the sour cream. 

Mix the ingredients well. I used a whisk to mix it. It turns into a yummy chocolate mousse. 

We wanted to up the chocolate factor in this pie, so I also added chocolate chips.  I did not measure the chips, I just poured in a good amount.  I think it was about a half of bag. 

Once it is fully mixed, add the mousse to pie crust, covering the bananas.

Cover the pie with the whipped topping and place in the fridge to chill for about an hour.  

After an hour it is  ready to eat. (if you can wait that long LOL!)  I told you it was easy to make, and it is  definitely delicious.

Since this pie is perfect for taking to parties, you might need a good way to transport it.  I looked online to see what is out there,  and a few items caught my eye

Another idea if you would like to bake several pies and give them out as gifts are these  disposable bakery boxes.  You could also use the to give cookies, and other treats.

Easy Chocolate Banana Pie

I don't know about you, but I have been looking for recipes to make when I have some extra bananas.  When my son was home, that was never the case, we never had any leftover.  Since my daughter and I were sick a couple of months ago, he has been quarantining with his dad. Now it is not uncommon to have a few extra bananas that need to be used up.  We also had something to celebrate this week. My daughter got her first job!  I wanted to do something special, but yet low key for her.  She was thrilled when I told her I made her a pie. 

I had most of the ingredients on hand, just had to pick up the crust and whipped topping.  

You will need:

graham cracker crust 

1-2 bananas 

small box banana pudding

small box chocolate pudding 

1 3/4 cup milk 

1 cup sour cream 

chocolate chips (optional)

It turns into a yummy chocolate mousse. Seriously, it could be dessert on it's own, but we are going to add it to the pie.

Add the pudding mixture to the pie

Carefully smooth it out

You will not need the entire container of whip cream, but add about 1/3 to 1/2 and spread over the pie. I added a chocolate heart of chocolate chips. Chill for about an hour. 

The end results were a delicious, easy to make pie.  Enjoy!

Summer Strawberry Recipes

One thing that I love about June is it means that strawberry season is here. Over the years, I have made several strawberry desserts that are still family favorites. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do. 

Every summer while growing up, I looked forward to my grandma's special strawberry jam.  A couple of years ago I was thinking of her jam and how much I missed it. She has been gone several years, and no one took over the jam making.  I asked my mom if she knew the recipe, and I was shocked to find out that it is actually pretty simple. Here is the full Strawberry Jam recipe if you would like to try some of your own. 

Every time I make my family Strawberry Bread it disappears very quickly.  When I originally made this post I had to make it twice, because my son  ate almost an entire loaf by himself. Just looking at these pictures makes me want to go pull out my pans and make it again. 

While technically this is not a strawberry recipe on it's own, there are strawberries in it  I made these Banana Split Pudding Parfaits for special pudding company post last summer, and they turned out amazing!  They tasted just like a real banana split but lighter since they are not made with ice cream. 

Last year I wanted to try something new. I love strawberry shortcake so I wondered if I could make a Strawberry Shortcake Cake.  Adding strawberries and glaze to an angel food cake, I come up with this light dessert cake. 

One of our favorite 4th of July traditions is the Easy 4th of July Strawberry Pie.  Underneath that white whipped cream and blueberries. is a delicious strawberry pie that is perfect for parties and holiday get-togethers. Every time I make it, it disappears right away. I am sure we will make it again in the next few weeks.

4th of July Strawberry Pie

When I was going  through my old posts looking for 4th of July ideas, I came across one of my favorite desserts. (I can't believe I didn't post this sooner!)  This is a red, white and blue, easy to make strawberry pie that is a great for bbqs, picnics or just because.  When I made this for 4th of July two years ago, the entire pie disappeared quickly because the kids loved it so much.  You can see the full recipe here. I think I am going to have to make one for tomorrows cookout.
