How Moviemakers Get Their Start

I wasn't really sure what to post today.  I had a busy day with the kids, and didn't really have time to be creative.   We had a very interesting girl scout meeting today. We  learned some new things that we so much fun, I thought I would share them here on the blog.  The girls learned how to do stop motion movies using a camera, computer and green screen.  We also used a fun website and made animation on the computer.

At one of the stations we made stop action movies that answered the question.. "What can cookies do?"   As they wrote out the title, pictures were constantly being taken. .  The cookies then slowly moved their way onto the background.  Kara's group decided that the sale of girl scout cookies can help animals, by donating some of the funds the girls earn from cookie sales.  They showed this by having 3 stuffed animals come into view and eat the cookies.  They had so much fun, and were surprised to see that 30 minutes of work only made a 10 second movie.

They also made a movie using a green screen backdrop and Littlest Pet Shop toys.  What was fun with this movie is the background was added by the computer.  This movie was even shorter than the cookie movie, but they had so much fun coming up with the story and moving the animals.

We didn't have enough time to make another movie today,  but the girls staged a beach scene with their webkinz.  They were planning out how they could make a movie next time.  Our leader said that if they really enjoyed what they learned today, we can do it again at another meeting.  All of the girls LOVED what they learned  today, so we might have some new directors in the making.    I am sure that after today, we will be making some movies at home.
