Floral Napkin Rings - Feature of the Day

Creative minds thinks alike. :)  One of the projects that I was working  on before the power outage  was hand made napkin rings. (to be posted soon)  They are totally different than these pretty floral rings by Crystal of Make It Easy Crafts.. I love how easy Crystal's napkin rings are to make, and that you can easily customize then  depending on the holiday or event. If you would like to try and make some of  your own, be sure to check out how on Make It Easy Crafts here.  Thanks so much for linking up to Dare to Share  Crystal!

Ways to Save at Target You Might Not Know About

Disclosure: This post  contains an affiliate links

Our local Target store recently remodeled, adding a much larger grocery section to the store. You don't know how happy that makes me since I am in Target quite often.  It makes it super easy to pick up things I need without having to go to another store.  I also love that at Target you can save money off your groceries and other household items FIVE different ways all at the same time.  I can't think of any other store that allows you  to do that.

a picture of a free turkey printable

I have some good news to share.. We got out power back!  It was out almost 24 hours.  You don't know how much you appreciate light and heat until you go without it for awhile.   It came on early enough this evening that I am able to post a Dare to Share Feature of the Day.  I think this Turkey Printables by Judy of Judy's Handmade Creations are  adorable.. No Power Today

I am not M.I.A. today by choice, Mother Nature made that decision for me.  We have been out of power since around 8 p.m. last night.  Around 10 p.m. we realized that none of our electronics had much power left.  We are grateful though, we did not have it too bad. The really bad storms did not hit our area, just the very strong wind.  It pulled our neighbor's mailbox out completely out out of the ground.

Paper Mache Moose - Feature of the Day

I could not help but notice this picture of moose  ornaments by Helena Haakt.  She shared an interesting technique in how she made them, that you might not thought of trying before.  You can see her step by step directions on how  she made her ornaments  using old newspapers here. Her blog is in Dutch, but there is a translate button to see the English directions.   Thank you so much for linking up to Dare to Share Helena!

Thanksgiving Turkey Candy Dish

Turkey crafts, Thanksgiving crafts, Candy Dish

With some basic crafting supplies, you can easily put together a Turkey Candy Dish that would put some fun and color into your Thanksgiving get together.  I was looking for my supplies for another craft when I came across the plastic bowls that I recently bought at the dollar store. You can find them in the dish aisle four for a dollar.

I used three and a half brown pipe cleaners to make the head. I started by folding one in half.  I then took the second one and wrapped it around the second one.  I then did the same with the third one.  I used the half of pipe cleaner to secure it where the neck would be. I then trimmed the pipe cleaners so they were all the same size.

I used hot glue to add google eyes, beak and snood. (and yes, I had to look it up!)  I used craft foam or the beak, but you can use felt, paper, or anything else you prefer.  I used red for the snood, mainly because I currently do not have red craft foam.

I then used hot glue to add the head to the front of the dish, and feathers to the back.  I found the a pack of the perfect Thanksgiving feathers at Michaels.  I then filled the dish with some pumpkin mallows that I bought last month.

I will be linking up my Turkey Candy Dish at the fabulous linky parties on my linky party page.  You can see the full list here.

Stuffed Mushroom Appetizer

how to make a stuffed mushroom appetizer

I had planned on sharing a turkey craft today, but after errands, an almost forgotten Orthodontist appointment, dance and homework, I was unable to squeeze in some crafting time.  Tomorrow looks a bit hectic too with an IEP,  lunch with a friend, a parents meeting for the Robotics team, and another dance class. Hopefully though,  I will have a few spare hours to finish a fun new craft.  We did get a bit of good news today.  Kara gets her expander off her next appointment.  She is so HAPPY to hear that. Just six more weeks to go!  At Kohls, I was able to use a 30% coupon,  $10 in  Kohls cash, and a bonus $5 promo card all at the same time at Kohls today. ($55.76 off my total)  My long time best friend sent me a very generous birthday gift with instructions that I must use it on myself. With my coupons, I was able to get two sweaters and a purse!  I also picked up a few gifts a long the way, and earned another $10 Kohls cash too. :)

Upcycled Pumpkins - Feature of the Day

If you are like me, and Leigh and Jeanette from over at Crafty in Crosby, you still have some unused Dollar Store pumpkins. (I might have a dozen or so) They came up with a great way to upcycle these pumpkins into pretty decorations perfect for Thanksgiving.  I love that they used what they already had on hand, to make something that would cost quite a bit more in the store.  If you would like to try this craft, you can see how they made these pretty pumpkins here. Thanks so much for linking up to Dare to Share girls!

Pilgrim and Indian Thanksgiving Place Cards

Pilgrim and Indian Thanksgiving Place Card Craft

I had planned on sharing a post about the Pumpkin Cake Pops that I made for my women's group this week.  Instead of having delicious cake pops to share, they turned into a what not to do post.  I do not normally make cake pops by hand, but I felt pretty certain I knew what I was doing.   Tip #1  Do not make cake pops after 10 p.m. when you are tired.  Tip #2 Do not assume you remember the recipe when it is not something you have made numerous times,

Things were going very well until this step. This is where I should have checked the recipe.  Instead of adding only 3/4 cup of frosting to the cake crumbs, I added the entire can. Ooops!  I thought the balls seemed a bit sticky when I was rolling them.  I had planned on chilling them overnight, so I put them in the refrigerator and went to bed.  The next morning, I realized my mistake when my cake balls were still super sticky.  I took a bite, and immediately had a sugar buzz!  They were still edible, but instead of cake pops, they are basically frosting pops. covered in chocolate.  I will be trying this recipe the correct way, and will hopefully be posting it within the next week.

So instead I am going to reshare one my favorite Thanksgiving crafts.  My Pilgrim and Indian Thanksgiving Place Cards

Both are easy and a lot of fun.  They also go great with their friend  Turkey Place Cards.

Pumpkin White Bean Chili - Feature of the Day

the recipe of Pumpkin White Bean Chili

With the cooler temps, and leaves falling off the trees, it is easy to think of having a bowl of chili this time of year.  Pumpkin is also very prominent in all kinds of recipes. I have to say though,  I have never tried a Pumpkin Chili before.   Connie from Hill House Homestead shared her recipe for Pumpkin White Bean Chili on this week's party.  I love pumpkin in recipes, so I think I might give this one a try.  To see how you can try it too, go to Hill House Homestead here.  Thanks so much for linking up to Dare to Share Connie!

Cranberry Honey Butter - Feature of the Day

Today's feature is another yummy recipe!  Robyn from Robyn's View shared a recipe for Cranberry Honey Butter on the Dare to Share party.  It is a great flavored butter that is perfect to give as a gift or to serve at your holiday get together.  All you need is a few ingredients, and a couple of minutes, and you will have your own  "homemade" gift. I am definitely going to give this recipe a try this holiday season.  Thanks so much for linking up to Dare to Share Robyn!
