Yesterday we participated in a craft show at a school in a neighboring town. We found out about it kind of late, so we were crafting for the last few weeks. We literally were crafting until the very last minute. The night before the show I did not get to bed until 3:00 a.m. I don't really recommend that, but we had some last minute projects that we wanted to finish. It was then a very early morning, because we had to finish packing everything up and pack the car, and check in started at 7:00 a.m. By the them we loaded up and hit the McDonalds drive thru, we made it to the show about 7:20. We were excited to see we had a table close to the door, so we did some strategic set up. We divided our table into two sections. The Frozen crafts were on the side that could easily been seen from the door, and Christmas crafts were on the right. There was a nice, steady crowd throughout the day, but we heard from a few of the attendees that there was a competing craft show at a nearby school that was very crowded. While a bit frustrating that we did not get the huge crowds due to the other show, a smaller show was good for getting back into the swing of doing shows again. The last time I participated in a craft show was 18 years ago, before my kids were born. Now my youngest child is making crafts with me, and we have come full circle.
I did find out the morning of the show that my business cards were totally outdated, so I could not put out them out. Deciding to do this show with less than a month to go, it was one of those details that I did not think about. This was a good lesson to learn at a smaller show. I did give out my information to a few people who asked, but it would be have been much easier to have updated cards. Will I will be doing soon!
Also during the show, I had a woman ask me if I would like to be part of a special function she is putting on in another neighboring town on Dec 18. She thought our Frozen items would be a big hit with the parents attending. I told her I had to check my schedule, and think about it. There are a few reasons why it is not ideal to participate. It is on a school night until 10 p.m. Since the function is going to be located in a bar, I could not bring any of my kids along to help me. Another reason why I am leaning against not doing it is, I am spent. I would have to put many more hours into making more Frozen items to have enough for that night. Because of this weekend's show we still have a lot of things to do that we have postponed. We still need to put up our Christmas tree, and decorate for the holiday. I still have some Christmas shopping to do. I have not had a chance spend the time I want to on my blog, and enjoy the Christmas season with my family. To me that is more important than earning a few more dollars. I have a lot of fun things planned to share with you in the next few weeks.
A fun fact about the show.. Almost every single thing we sold was from Frozen! The movie is still huge, and does not look like it is slowing down. It also helped that I was one of only two tables that had Frozen inspired items. :)

I am sorry that I did not get a better picture of this tutu. This was one of the items that I was finishing last minute. This was the only picture I got of it before it sold. This Elsa themed tutu was 18 inches in length, and on a ribbon so it could be tied on. (better when you do not know what size will want to buy it) It sells for $20. (I used several rolls of tulle, so it was very full) This particular one was sold very early in the show. A very cute 6 yr old who hung around our table most of the day will be getting it for Christmas. I can also make mini tutus for $12, and they can be customized in waist size and length.
