Edible Snowman Ornament

When I saw this edible snowman ornament from Craftberry Bush , I knew I wanted to feature it.  Not only could it be the Treat of the Day, but also the Craft of the Day AND the Ornament of the Day. I don't think I have ever seen something that has fit all 3 catagories before.     Everything inside the ornament is edible.  She gives a great tutorial on how to make the little snowman and the cocoa mix.   I personally think this ornament is too cute to eat, and I would want to display it for awhile before enjoying the cocoa.  This post is a definite must see!

Marshmallow Reindeer

I saws these reindeer marshmallow pops thought to myself that I wanted to make them. Little did I know how soon I would have to make them.   These sweet little guys got me out of a "mom I need 40 treats by tomorrow" jam.  As I mentioned before I found out this morning that Kara was to bring in treats for her music class and she had no idea how many kids were in that class. Tonight she guessed 35 or so.  To be on the safe side, we decided to make 40 reindeer.

I had a picture of all of the plain marshmallows laid out on my other camera, but it ran out of battery.   I melted Wilton light cocoa melts using the 30 second melting method.  I melted them in the microwave, while stirring every 30 seconds  Once melted, I dipped the marshmallows in one at a time and tried to drip off the excess chocolate.

I used a red M & Msthat I got on sale recently at Meijer and yellow candy eyes that I won from Beth at Hungry Happenings.    I was very grateful to have them on hand, because I did not have time to do an edible eyeball run.  LOL!

I already had the pretzels because I planned on using them in another treat recipe.  I laid the marshmallow covered in chocolate on top of the pretzels and they attached as the chocolate hardened.

I was also grateful to have a box of 150 sandwich baggies on hand for some quick wrapping.

We placed all of the wrapped reindeer onto a large plastic platter for Kara to take to school tomorrow. She was so happy with how they turned out. She was excited about taking them to share with her classmates.  I guess seeing her happiness makes up for her not telling me until the last minute thing.  At least she gave me enough warning that she also has to bring a treat on Tuesday to her class party in her homeroom.

Marshmellow Snowmen

Kara informed me this morning that we need to make treats for her music class for tomorrow morning.  She also had no idea how many where in her class.  She wanted me to make marshmellow bears, which would be cute, but no so fun to make 30+ of them with almost no notice.   I am going to make a much simpler marshmellow treat  that would be perfect for a class party.  I will be sharing what it is  later tonight.  Until then, I found marshmellow snowmen  from All You .  These would make a cute gifts for a bus driver, neighbor or teacher assisstant and a lot of fun for your child to help put them together.

Elf Pops - Treat of the Day

The last few days Buddy has been having an easier time.  The kids have not "poked" him to take his powers anymore. They have been enjoying having him around and look forward to where they are going to find him each day.  A few days ago, he found the O in NOEL on our mantle, to be the perfect seat.

The other night, he took a ride on a reindeer, with a pretty girl beside him.  Kara came  to tell me "Elfis Presley" was in the house. When I asked her what she was talking about, she told me that Buddy had found a girlfriend.

Today Buddy decided he was a bit hungry. I caught him trying to sneak some chocolate kisses.

Since sugar is one of Buddy's favorite foods, I think he will be excited to see that 365 days of cake pops
turned his cute face into a cake pop.  To see her elf pops and many other incrediable Christmas pops, make sure to check out 365 days of cake pops here.

The Arrival of Sinterklaus

In many cultures today is St. Nicholas Eve.  When I lived in a town that was predominately Dutch, Sinterklaus would visit our town on December 5th.   He is known as the Patron Saint of Children and is celebrated in countries all across Europe.  He often leaves candy and oranges in childrens shoes that are left in front of the fireplace.  This evening his helper Zwaerte Piet will leave burlap sacks of gifts for the family to find.  I found a fun website with all the Chrismas traditons from around the world here.

Whether you believe in Sinterkluas, St. Nicholas  or Santa Claus, I have been fnding so great treat ideas that will honor all three.

Treat of the Day

I chose the Rice Krispie Treat Penguin Pops  from Beth at Hungry Happenings for a couple of reasons.  The biggest reason is because I love them, but that was not the only reason.  We just had our first real snowfall where I live yesterday, so I guess winter is really coming. Penguins make me think of snow.    I also just saw the movie Happy Feet Two with my daughter, and these would be perfect  treat to surprise your kids with before/after seeing the movie.  In the next few weeks Beth will be featuring special Christmas treats with modeling chocolate  every day, and if you have not yet seen her wondeful blog yet, you will definitely need to check it out.
