Leftover Turkey Pizza

                                           

I LOVED this leftover pizza recipe that I found on Pillsbury.com last year.  It was so good, that I am really looking forward to Friday, when I can make it again.  The picture does not do it justice, so just take my word that it tastes better than it looks. 

The crust is made from a tube of crescent rolls.  Last year I used the one piece roll.  Either way works just fine.  Just seal the seams if needed.   Bake the crust for 7-9 minutes at 425 degrees before adding the other ingredients. 

The recipe calls for leftover cranberry sauce, but since no one in my family likes it, I used Smuckers Black Cherry topping. It might sound odd, but it is GOOD!  I left the corner free of stuffing( I used Stove Top)  in this picture, because my youngest daughter is not a big fan of stuffing.

I then added a layer of shredded leftover turkey.

After the turkey, I added  a layer of cheddar cheese.  We love cheese in my family, so I added a lot. 

Bake the pizze for 6-10 more minutes at 425 degrees  to warm the ingredients, and melt the cheese.   Leftover turkey pizza is a great way to have variety when eating up those wonderful Thanksgiving leftovers.  It is so good, you will want to make it even  when you don't have leftovers.  In that case, you can just add shredded chicken in place of the turkey.

Happy Feet Two

                                                          

My kids did not have school today.   Our school district is nice and gives us this day for families that travel for the holiday.    Since we did not have school,  Kara and I went to the movies.   There were 3  movies we wanted to see, The Muppets, Arthur Christmas, and Happy Feet Two.   Since my son was not able to come with us today and told me he would like to see the Muppets, we decided to wait on that one.  I allowed Kara to choose, and my penguin loving daughter chose to go to Happy Feet Two.  If you were a fan of the first  one, you will definitly love this one.   Right away during the opening credits, I was impressed with the stars in the  cast.  Elijah Woods,  Alecia Moore (AKA Pink), Robin Williams, Sophia Vergara, Hank Azaria,  Brad Pitt,  and Matt Damon.  Elijah Woods is the voice of Mumbles the dancing penguin from Happy Feet One.  He is now the father of a non dancing penguin who is trying to find his own place in the world.    There were a few parts that were intense and could be scary for younger children, but  there were also some very funny parts as well.   I loved Brad Pitt and Matt Damon as Will and Bill the Krill.  I also loved all the fun music that played throughout the entire movie.  It was a fun, feel good movie, and we left the theater singing and smiling.   I definitely recommend it!

Thankfulness Turkey

One way my family likes to show what we are thankful for each year is by making Thankfulness Turkeys.  We cut out a basic turkey shape in tan, and feathers in several colors.   We then write out what we are thankful for on the feathers, and attach them to to the turkey bodies.  This year I hung them on the door  that you first see when you come in for the garage.  It is a constant reminder of  how much we have to be thankful for. 

I was especially happy with how much my daugher was thankful for.  She had so many feathers that she was too tried to color them all.. =)

Thanksgiving Silliness

If you are having kids come to your Thanksgiving get together, they will really enjoy this funny free printable from Christmas.organizedhome.com.  When I showed it to Kara, she thought it was so funny that she helped me dig into her Halloween candy to look for "poop worthy" candy.  We used Whoppers, but the sites also suggests Milk Duds,  and chocolate covered raisins.   There are also two other versions of Turkey Poop printables to chose from.

Consider a FREE Canvas for Christmas

The canvas people have brought back their free canvas offer for the holidays.   I am so excited about this because I just told my teenage daughter on Sunday that  I wanted to make one for her grandparents.    They are offering a free 8 x 10, just pay the shipping charge, or $55 off a larger canvas.  The last time this was offered, I ordered the 11 x 14, and I LOVE IT!   Now if only my kids will all cooperate at the same time and I can get one great picture to use.

Christmas Shopping with Coupons

I had so much fun this morning!  I went to Target and picked up some of their best deals and saved even more with coupons.    My kids are going to be so happy, and I am happy because I saved a lot of $$$$$

My first stop was the Toy Dept. 

My kids have been eyeing the Skylanders Spryo Adventure Starter Pack.  It is regularly $69.99.  Thru Wed., it is on sale for $49.99.  I paid for it with my Target gift cards that I have been saving all year.    Basically I got it for FREE! 

I have a son who loves Legos.  They had some good deals that match up with Target toy coupons. 

I got the Ninjagq Battle Arena on sale and I had a coupon.  This is normally $49.99.  Thru Wed, it is on sale for $37.49.  I also had  $5 off select lego sets Target coupon.  Final price $32.49

Lego Heroica was also on sale and there is a Target coupon.   This game is normally $29.99, but thru Wed, it is on sale for $19.99.  After the $5 Target coupon, final price was $14.99

The Scrabble Flash game was not on sale but there are two coupons that can be used.   This game is normally $19.98.  I had a $5 off Target coupon and a $5 off manufacturer coupon, making the final price $9.98. 

I also found some great deals in the clothing department 

The gorgeous shiny red girls boots are for Kara.  They are normally $27.99,  thru Wed, on sale for $20. 

I found a great gift for myself as well.  =)  I have been eyeing the Merona Macha black boots for a couple of months.  I liked them so much, that I almost got them for full price awhile back.  They are normally $34.99.  Today I found them on clearance for $24.48.  But that is not all!  There is also a $5 off womans boots coupon n this weeks flyer.  I got them for $19.48. WOOHOO!

For my older daughter I found a great price on 3 piece sleep sets.  Normally $27.99, thru Wed, they are on sale for $15.  I also used a $3 off sleepwear coupon, final price $12. 

The sweaters are also a great deal.  Normally $17.99 each, they are this weeks Weekly WOW and on sale for $9.99.  I used two $4 off Womens sweater coupons.  Final price $5.99 each.  

I also scored a few freebies.  

The Frankenberry cereal is finally marked down to 50% off.  For the longest time it was sitting at the $2.26 clearance price.  Today I found them for $1.33.  

The Up and Up Womans product was $3.79.  I had a $1 off an Up and Up product, $3 or higher catalina coupon.  Final price $2.79 for 48 pads. 

Now my freebies.

Aveeno has a deal where you earn a $5 gift card back when you buy 3.  The smaller $2.99 lotion is included.  I also used the $3 off 2 and a $1 off 1 Aveeno product coupons.  Price after coupons was $4.97.  After the $5 gift card,  I made .03 by buying it. 

Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm regular price $2.99.  I had a $2 off Target coupon and a $1 off manufacturer coupon. Final price,  I made .01 for buying them. 

Full price what I bought today would have cost me $320.53. YIKES!    I used $46 in coupons~ Not too bad.    With sales, coupons, gift cards, and 5% off with Target card, my price was only $137.78. That was a 57% savings.

Turkey Treats

Make Ahead Breakfasts for Guests

I am reposting two of most popular recipes because in a few days our houses will be filled with overnight houseguests, who need to be fed.   Make Ahead French Toast is a great way to treat your  guests a great breakfast without a lot of extra work.  I already plan on making some for Thanksgiving morning, so we have something sweet and yummy to eat while watching the parade on TV. 



I posted a French Toast Casserole in March.   In this version, I used 12 slices of bread,  brown sugar and cinnamon.   I also added a  strawberry topping.   You can see the full picture tutorial here.



In April, I posted a stuffed french toast.   In this version, I used cream cheese between the layers.  This  tastes even better when you use Cinnamon Raisin bread.  You can see the full tutorial for this recipe here.

With a few minutes the night before, holiday mornings just become a lot easier.

Dollar Store Fun Finds

I stopped by the Dollar Tree with my daughter just to pick up a couple of things.  As usual though, many more items caught my eye.   I found several things that I can use for upcoming projects.    I bought this tinsel to make tinsel trees I saw last week in several linky parties.  I cant think of who posted it off the top of my head, but when I make them, I will be sure to link to the orginal post.. They were gorgeous!

I found these cute clay ornaments.  I have a couple of possible ideas for these. 

I found a cup of snow in the holiday section and the face of the snowman inspired me to pick up some glassware to paint. 

There was still a good size selection of ribbon that would be perfect for crafting or wrapping gifts. 

I was excited about this find.  They were several themed cupcake wrappers with coordinating picks for cupcake decorating.  I also saw  4 pk treat boxes which would be perfect for those giving away cookies and other treats this Christmas. 

In the book aisle, I found several Chicken Soup books that would make a nice gift for someone who could use a pick me up.

I was intrigued by the Poinsetta in a can. Supposedly you can grown a real poinsetta from what is in the can.  I don't know if it will work our not, but for $1 I figured why not try it out.   This could be a fun novelty gift, stocking stuffer or home school project.  You will need to keep it away from your cats though, because real poinsettas can be dangerous to cats.

I am going to use these candy canes with my outside decor.   It is worth $3 for some extra Christmas cuteness.

I am going to try and stay away from the Dollar Tree for at least a week or so.  I know I will be back soon though, I saw several ideas for stocking stuffers.
