Dollar Store Displays

While at the dollar store recently I picked up a few of their wavy bowls and candlesticks.  I thought it would be fun to make some display dishes.  I also wanted to see what happens when I used paint to make a colorful Easter dish.

I started out with some pretty pastel paints I  bought at Michaels recently

I randomly started painted the different colors all over the bowl.  Kara thought this looked like fun, and jumped in to help.

Pretty soon the entire bowl was covered, and Kara offered to put on a coat of varnish for me

Using some super glue gel that I found at the dollar store, I then glued the candlestick to the bottom of the bowl.  Be careful not to push very hard, because the bowl can easily crack.

The inside of the bowl has a muted pastel look

I found some eggs at the dollar store that exact colors that I had painted the bowl, so I had to buy them

I also made a clear display bowl with a piece of scrapbook cardstock, to give it a pop of color.  I also wanted to cover up the view of the super glue which you can see thru the clear bowl.

To get the correct size, I just traced the bottom of the bowl on the back side of my cardstock

These quick and easy display dishes would be great to use for almost any occasion.   I filled one with candy, but it would also a good place to hold the bunny napkins on your Easter table.

I will be linking my colorful displays up.  Be sure to check my linky party page to see some awesome blogs.

Also don't forget the my first linky party, Dare to Share is going on now. I would love to have  you link up and share.
