I don't know why but this week seemed a little bit longer than normal.  It could be that it was raining pretty much every day. It could also be my super long to do list that seems to get longer as we get closer to the end of school.  Whatever the reason it seemed long,  it IS Friday night and  you what that means.

Whew..  we survived another week.  While this week seemed to go very fast, it was still a long one.  We finished Robotics season, had lot of homework and big tests.   I am really looking forward to sleeping in a little bit this weekend.

Dare to Share #40

I don't know how it happens, but every time I sit down on the computer, I get distracted.  I have every intention to start writing right away, but somehow that doesn't seem to happen.  I tell myself that I will only take a quick peek at Facebook.  Quick and Facebook really should not  be in the same sentence.  First of all I am a Bejeweled Blitz addict.  I say to myself that I am only going to play a couple of games.  30 games later, I realize that I have wasted a half hour.  I then go over and check my newsfeed.  Sometimes, like tonight, that really does pay off.  I saw that the Kelloggs Family Rewards Codes were worth triple points today.  I had more than 10 codes to enter so that was a lot of extra bonus points.  Other days though, I find I just waste more time.  Finally a few hours after I start, I get back to what I sat down to do which is post this week's Dare to Share party.

I didn't do a lot of projects this week.  My oldest daugther's virtual school classes are almost finished.  Her semester ends in a couple of weeks, so I have been making sure she is getting everything finished.   I did make a couple of appetizers on New Years Eve that I will be posting shortly. I also enjoyed a nice cup of cocoa with peppermint marshmallows by the Christmas tree.

I am excited by what arrived at my house today.  I ordered the Wheat Belly cookbook, and hope to try several of the recipes in the book to improve my health.  I have high hopes, but some of the recipes look a bit on the complex side.

It is Friday night, and you know what that means..

Hard to believe that in a few days it will be February. It is also hard for me to believe that my son only has one semester of school left before graduation. This week I was able to post a few posts, and have a few more in the works. My daughter who you may remember from her Crafting with Kara posts is all grown up now, and wants to be involved in the blog again. We have a few posts coming up for the Super Bowl and Valentine's Day.  

A couple upcoming posts also may include my special girls B and T. Being a blogger for US Family Guide I was asked to check out a website with fun gifts for girls.  Earlier this week I shared how my readers could get 15% off Gifts for Little and Tween Girls.  B and T will hopefully have the chance to try out one of the fun nail sets.

Dare to Share #164

It is Friday night, and you know what that means..  

It is time to Dare to Share! 

We are getting into crunch time.  In the next few weeks we will be having the end of school, a graduation, a dance banquet/rehearsal/recital and massive garage sale.    

 

Today was a bittersweet day.  Today was the last day of high school for my oldest daughter. We have worked so hard to get to this point.  During high school she has been in a program called seat time waiver.  She is the first student to graduate from our high school  being in the program for all 4 years.  In the beginning of her Freshman year, we found that traditional school was too overwhelming for her.  Her principal who knew her in middle school and then moved up to the high school. He was in charge of the students in the program, and said she was perfect for the online program. That year you had to get special permission to be part of it.   Every single day of high school I would drive her to school later in the day.  She would do her elective classes at the high school, and then do her core classes online.   I am so thankful that we had this opportunity for this non traditional approach to school.  When she was a sophomore, they opened the availability to take online classes to all students.  Her brother is taking one next year since he wants to take German as his foreign language, and they do not have the class at the high school.  For one of her science credits she got to take Oceanography. Isn't that cool?! .  That is not really a class you would think that would be taught at a high school in the middle of Michigan  I have not really cried yet, but next week during the Senior walk, and then during graduation, I know I am going to be a crying my eyes out.  

I am in the process of working on two posts.  I just did not have a chance to finish them yet. As you know this weekend is Memorial Day and the kick off to summer.   I have invited a few friends over for a cookout.  Today my daughter and I went grocery shopping and got all of our food for the big day for only $30.  On the menu, grilled chicken, brats, hot dogs, macaroni salad, tortilla chips and salsa, watermelon, a flag cake (minus the blueberries, there is  shortage in our area) and S'mores. I am going to share some of my best shopping for a party on a budget tips.   I am also working on some of the best party finds for your summer parties.  We hope to have a graduation party later in the summer, so I hope to have some good ideas to share.

Dare to Share #198

It is Friday night, and you know what that means... 

It is time to Dare to Share! 

This week went very quickly for me, probably because it was all over the place.  Monday was the calm before the storm, so to speak. We had a day off of school for Martin Luther King Day/teacher development day. Both of my kids are/were behind in their homework, and neither got any done om their day off.  The rest of the week my daughter had headaches and was late for school the last three days.  I had a sub job Thursday morning, but woke up sick, so I had to cancel it.  Luckily I canceled early enough that someone else picked it up in time. I felt really bad doing that, but you can't teach 4th graders all day if you feel like you are pass out, and possibly have to reach for the trash can.  I ended up taking a 4 hour nap, which really helped me feel better. It was also my oldest daughter's birthday that day, but we did not get to celebrate.  She is currently out of the state, and we missed having her home Today I had a sub job in the media center  where I used to volunteer.  It ended up being a great day. I will be called to fill again, because I knew the job well due to helping out there for so long. It felt like I had never left, even though it was three years since my volunteer days.   My son passed his online German class the last minute today. I was quite stressed about it, because if he did not finish it in time, it could have messed up his graduation.   Now this weekend we have a lot of make up work to finish up on that my daughter missed when she was out of school with her headaches.   Whew.. Next week have to worry about several midterms. 

This week I shared some of the great Party Finds I found for a Candy Land Party.  I have a few projects planned, but did not have a chance to work on them with all the school craziness.  

In honor of my oldest daughter's birthday, I did a flashback post to the year she wanted a Sushi birthday.  I shared How to Make Candy Sushi that I put on top of her cake. It's hard to believe how quickly the years went by.  

With the freezing temps and all of the snow hitting a big portion of our country this week, I chose this cute Paper Mache Penguin craft by About Family Crafts as a Dare to Share Feature this week..  Are you in the storm where  you live?

Finally.. Dare to Share Features..

I am so sorry that I dropped the ball on sharing features for a few weeks. With Kara's Woodland Party and my mom's summer visit, I just didn't get it done. Now things are settling down a bit, and I can get back to my normal routine.



From Dare to Share #15 check out these delicious looking Peanut Butter and Chocolate Layer Bars from Heather's French Press. Wow, do these look yummy!  I also loved her Strawberry Doughnuts and Ice Cream Sandwich Cake from Dare to Share #16.


I really liked Emma's  idea  from Intentional Hospitality  to take lunch to a shut in. It reminds us that there are people who might not be able to get up and go, and would love a friendly visit.  She also included her special egg salad recipe.



Can you tell that all these great recipes are making me hungry.. LOL!   I could dive right in to Pamelas Almond Joy Mini Cake from Pamela's Heavenly Treats that was shared on Dare to Share #17.  Seriously this looks so good, and I know she uses whole wheat flour to make it a bit healthier.   What is not to like about that?!



I love this colorful Happy Salad from Meremade.  I really does make me happy just to look at it.  I now need to try and make it.



Another colorful  fun summer recipe is Rosies Chunky Guacamole Salsa from A Rosies Sweet Home. I love avacodo, and I am always looking for new ways to eat it.



Now for a non food feature.. How sweet is this Hello Kitty pillow from Dona of Sewing Miles of Smiles.  She makes the cutest things for the children's hospital, and for her lucky grandchildren.   My daughter loved Hello Kitty when she was  younger.  Makes me a bit bummed that she is growing up so fast and outgrowing all of her little girl things.

Dare to Share #201

It is Friday night, and you know what that means... 

It is time to Dare to Share!  

What a busy, crazy week!  I worked at the same school 5 days in a row. Three days as the Art teacher, yesterday in the  6th grade, and today in the  5th. It also happened to be the day of the Valentine's Day party in the class I taught, and the Tim Tebow Night to Shine special needs prom at my church.  I had another long tiring day, but I ate a lot more sugar so I am still awake. ;) 

One of the girls in the class I taught today made this super cool Minion Valentine Box. I loved it so much she gave me permission to take a picture of it. She made it out of large plastic container, tissue paper, and craft foam.  Another girl made a sweet unicorn using multiple boxes and toilet paper tubes. I might use a variation in a craft post in the future. 

Tonight was also dance night. My daughter and her best friend went to a school dance, and I went to a special dance with my friends too. Our church was part of the Tim Tebow Night to Shine special needs prom.  Churches all around the country hold dances for the special needs people in their area. We made their night super special with a wonderful meal and a night of dancing. It is such a fun event.

Dare to Share #158

It is Friday night, and you know what that means.. 

It is time to Dare to Share! 

This week was our Spring Break.  It was nice to have a much needed break before the craziness of the end of the school year.    Because of the Robotics meet, we did not have to color our eggs this year until the night of Easter.  This year Kara experimented a bit with the food coloring.   The Robotics meet went well. We were chosen to go to the final rounds as part of an alliance and ended up in 5th place.  We did not advance to the state meet, but came close. The state meet was four days long and across the state, so we were okay with not advancing. Hopefully next year that the meet will be closer to home.   

We have started working on our Cinderella Party ideas.  Kara shared how to make Cinderella Butterflies.

Dare to Share #183

It is Friday night, and you know what that means. 

It is time to Dare to Share! 

I have no idea how this week got away from me.  We have been busy with school, homework, and preparing for Homecoming next week.  I found out that I have been approved to substitute teach (not that I was too worried) and now I am only waiting for my final code to start accepting jobs.  Now that it is October, I am starting to actually think of Halloween.  Until Tuesday it was still warm enough to wear shorts and flip flops so it was hard to get into the fall mindset. I literally went from wearing flip flops one day to wearing boots the next. 

This past weekend, I took my daughter and her best friend across the state to visit the Holland Community Aquatic Center. We had a fun afternoon. They are not big swimmers so I was not sure how they would like it. I had no reason to worry, they had a lot of fun.
