Dare to Share Features

Okay, I dropped the ball again. I said I was going to post Dare to Share features a few days ago. Here it is Wednesday.. Hopefully better late than never.. 

Usually the end of the school year is hectic, this year it is especially so.  My son is a SENIOR and will be graduating in just a couple of months (we are so not ready for this!) Last week we made a few visits to possible places he may go in the fall, and we are pretty sure we have a plan.  A good friend asked me to plan an Easter themed birthday party for her for later this month. We have not yet had the chance to get together to come up with all the details. Luckily it will be a casual affair, that does not need a lot of details.  I am going to be super busy at work the next couple of months, as it is prime subbing season. I also need to find another job for the summer since there is no school, and we are also looking to move again early summer.  We do not like where we currently live, and rent is going to be going up again.   Does everything seem to happen all at the same time for you too?   At least now you why I have not been posting that much lately. 

There were so many great posts to choose from shared during the last two parties..  Here are two that really stuck out to me.  

I love how happy the daughter of The Mom Creative is at her Finding Dory birthday party. There are so many great party ideas in this post that all kids will be sure to love.  

Most people who know me knows I love all things sweet, including donuts! Not only does The Simple Sweet Life share a delicious donut recipe, but they are ADORABLE and perfect for spring.

Lilo and Stitch Dinner & Movie Party - Feature of the Day

When Kara was two  she was obsessed with Stitch.  She had several Stitch dolls and was even Stitch for Halloween.   When I saw what Marcie from I Got To Try That did to give her kids a special Lilo and Stitch night, I knew I would have to feature it.  She went all out with the luau wear, a special themed dinner and movie night.  Many of her ideas would be perfect for a luau or Lilo and Stitch themed birthday party. A little added Lilo and Stitch  flashback bonus..Here is Kara when she was Stitch for Halloween.  She looked adorable!  I remember her getting upset when several people asked her while we were trick or treating  if she was Eeyore.   Lilo and Stitch  was a family theme that year.  Kristina was Lilo, and Kyle was the version of Stitch that had six arms. I wish I would have thought to have a Lilo and Stitch themed night for them, they would have loved it.

Zoo Animal Party

I am still in the middle of end of school chaos, so I have had very little time to make things this week.  Instead I thought this would be the perfect time to share another  one of our favorite parties.   I mentioned in an earlier post that Kara has a love of animal themed parties.  The year she turned 7, she wanted a zoo animal party.  The closest zoo is about 45 mins away, so it was not ideal for us to travel to the zoo.  Instead, we did our best to have a pretend zoo at our house.     For our photo op, we had each child pose in the monkey cage.    A friend who has a blinds business gave me the cardboard inserts to make a monkey cage.  Originally, I had hoped to make a standing cage wall to stand  in front of our deck to look like there were two sets of cage bars.  That did  not work out so well, so instead we attached the "bars" to our garage and the girls stood behind it and posed like a monkey.

We played pin the tail on the lion.  I made the lion out of yellow poster board and brown card stock.

We played a game called Please Feed the Elephant.   Each child was given a spoon and a marshmallow circus peanut.  They had to jump over a series of pool noodles and feed the elephant as quickly as possible.  My oldest daughter is holding the elephant board.  There is a small hole at the top of the trunk, to insert the circus peanut.  I was able to use this  game board at two of our parties,  this party and our safari party for my son.

 

Each of the girls were given an animal bucket hat.  Here they are playing a jumping frog game I found at Target.
