I lined a cooke sheet with a piece of wax paper.
I opened the packages and Kara helped me form them into footballs. (sort of! LOL!) If you want more precise footballs, it would be best to use a cookie cutter. Since these are just for my kids, these were close enough.
At first we just placed the sticks into the treats, but when we tried to cover the first one the stick was loose.
I used light cocoa candy melts to cover the footballs. It was the perfect shade of brown. I melted them in a glass bowl, using the 30 second method.
I placed some melted chocolate where the stick is placed and then reinserted the stick. Once the chocolate hardened, the stick was much more secure.
Here Kara is covering the mini football with chocolate using a knife. It worked best when we covered the top and sides and allowed it to harden before covering the back side.
I placed a few white candy melts in a plastic bag and melted it for 30 seconds at 15 second intervals. I snipped the corner and made the lines on the footballs. AFTER I gave Kara the bag to eat, I realized I forgot the longer verical lines on the ends. Ooops! They still look like footballs either way. If I were serving this for a party, I would probably use a tube of frosting, because it would go on less goopy than the melted chocolate did.
I have horrible light in my kitchen so I experimented with and without flash. I think this one had a flash turned out pretty good.
