Red Truck Holiday Items

If you are a fan of the little red truck like I am, you will be excited to see all of the holiday red truck stuff that is available this year at the Dollar Tree and Dollar General.

I love both of these pumpkin patch signs that were only $1.  The top one is from the Dollar General, the top is the Dollar Tree. Which one do you like better?

Both of these harvest trucks are fun for fall and Thanksgiving.

I am loving this Farm Fresh Pumpkins yard stake.

This truck mason jar is cut out of a thick piece of wood, and so pretty.

I have a mini tree that I change each month with a different theme.  This Christmas I decided to have a red truck tree.  I found both mini trucks, and larger ones with campers at the Dollar Tree.

There are even little red trucks for your Christmas village.

I was lucky enough to find these LED red truck lights, because I stopped by the store the day they were put on the shelves.

The thin truck ribbon and Santa truck tins were just recently put on the shelves.

If you were lucky enough to snag a Farmers Market calendar for 2021, you will see that there is a red harvest truck next November.  Crafters and DIYers are using this calendar in their holiday crafts this year.

Both the harvest truck and the holiday truck tumblers are available now.

If you shop at Aldi you might see this red truck tablecloth for $2.99.  I saw a pretty Christmas version at the Dollar General this week for $4.

If you prefer placemats to the tablecloth, Dollar Tree has these.

Also available are red truck dish cloths and towels.

I think I was most excited about this find.  They are hard to find in stores, but may still be available online at DollarTree.com.  I have a DIY craft using this truck that I will be sharing soon.

I am also very excited about this find at the Dollar General that I found yesterday (Oct 7) for $2 each.  They are very detailed and attached to a base.

If you prefer a simpler craft, Dollar General has a foam ornament kit for only $1.

I am not sure if the harvest truck ribbon is still available, but I love it.

Want to send Christmas cards this year? I found these two cute sets at the Dollar General.

Another favorite find of mine from the Dollar General.

I am not sure what I am going to do with this yet, but all these wall stickers at meant to go together.

If you like trucks of different colors, I am finding a few things in blue and light green as well.

I am sure there are a few red truck items that I have not been able to find yet.  I know there is a Christmas sign that will be in stores very soon.

Which holiday truck item is your favorite?

Splatter Screen Mesh Pumpkin from Dollar Tree Items

I finally had the chance to craft this past weekend.  I have  wanted to make this splatter screen pumpkin made with Dollar Tree items for quite awhile.  For most of August, I could not find the splatter screens.  I checked several Dollar Trees on my vacation all around Michigan. I also checked many of the stores in my area.  They were out of stock at every store.  Then one day, all of the stores got more in stock and now they are available everywhere again.

** This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

To make this craft, you need three splatter screens, three rolls of orange meshorange tinsel pipe cleaners or wire and some harvest themed ribbon of your choice.

The handles of the splatter screen can easily be removed with a screw driver.  To make the pumpkin shape, start by overlapping two of the screens by a few inches and secure with either pipe cleaner or wire.

Center and layer the third screen over the other two and secure with pipe cleaner or wire.

Start wrapping the mesh on one of the other screens securing it on the back side with pipe cleaners cut in half.  Place the pipe cleaners about an inch apart.

Continue wrapping and securing the mesh until the entire screen is covered. It should take a little over 2 rolls of mesh.  I decided to finish the entire third roll and cover the pumpkin with another layer.

To make the bow, I layered three different fall theme ribbons. I folded each ribbon three times on each side.  The bottom layer was a little bit longer than the middle, and then the middle was a little bit longer than the top.  I secures all three ribbons with a pipe cleaner.  To make tails for my bow, I also secured one long piece of folded ribbon to the back of the bow using the same pipe cleaner.

Once all the ribbon is secured with the pipe cleaner,  gently pull out the ribbon loops and fluff them a bit.  When you like how it looks, used the pipe cleaner to secure the bow to the top of the pumpkin.

This pumpkin is pretty light weight and can easily be hung on the wall, door, or even in a wreath.

Dare to Share #437

It is Friday night, and you know what that means..
It is time to Dare to Share!

Happy October! We have made it through our first month of school.  We have adjusted to some of the rules we have in place, and are starting to get used to our new normal. That could change at any time though as we go into the fall and winter months.

I shared another post from our trip around Michigan, sharing about of visit to Traverse City, Charlevoix, and Petoskey.  Pictured is one of the famous mushroom houses of Charlevoix.

Do you decorate for Halloween? I like to, but have not really started yet.  I hope to this weekend.  Our temps in the area were summer like until this past week, and now suddenly ifeels like fall.

Well it looks like it is time to get this week's party started.  Link up and HAVE FUN!!

Our visit to Lake Michigan - Traverse City, Charlevoix and Petoskey

If you have been following my posts from our trip around the state of Michigan, you know I ended my last post  in Traverse City where we saw the most beautiful sunset I think I have ever seen.

Our first stop of the day was Clinch Park. It is right on Lake Michigan, where they have a beach, and a lot of things for kids to do.

Right next to the park is the Clinch Park Marina. It is a beautiful sight to see all the boats sailing out on the lake.

After a couple of hours, we left Traverse City and head north about an hour to the town of Charlevoix.  One thing very unique to Charlevoix are the mushroom houses.  They do have tours where you can learn about all the houses. Since we missed the last tour,  I did my research on google. :) This is Boulder Manor, one of the biggest mushroom houses.  Back in 1924, a man named Earl Young purchased several acres of land.  That land was full of boulders left from the glaciers many, many years ago. He started this house in 1928, but could not finish it until after the depression in the late 1930s.  I do not have a picture of the entryway, but there are large boulders built into the house.

The Thatch House is a big reason why these unusual houses are called mushroom houses.  This house probably looks the most like an actual mushroom. It was built in 1918, and its thatch roof was made in Europe and shipped to the US. It took two years to built because of the extra timberwork needed to make it is unusual shape. According to the site I found on google, you can rent this house for a vacation.

Another one of the more famous mushroom houses is the Half House. It is called that because it is the smallest of the mushroom houses.  It was built in Storybook style. (as were many in this neighborhood) Storybook is a type of architecture popular around the time these houses were built, and as you can see they look like they are straight from a storybook. You can almost image Snow White and the Seven Drawfs living  there.

Our last stop in Charlevoix was the South Pierhead Light Station. It was not as crowded as some of the lighthouses we visited, but it was still fun to see.   At this point we decided to travel just a little bit farther, and have dinner in Petoskey.

Petoskey is known for Petoskey stones.  There are a large number of rocks along the shoreline.  We loved the quaint downtown, and gaslight shopping district.  We decided to eat dinner at the Noggin Inn at the Perry Hotel. Reading up on the Perry Hotel, Ernest Hemmingway stayed there during his time in Petoskey.

This was our view at dinner.  We ate outside in a garden overlooking the lake. It was such a nice place that had reasonable prices. We really enjoyed our dinner there.

After dinner we walked around a bit more, and got some pretty pictures of the area.

Since it was getting close to the time the sun was going to set, we went down to the lakeshore.  This is what I was talking about earlier about all the rocks, they were everywhere.

We found a comfortable place to sit, and watched another beautiful sunset.

Afterwards we got back in the car, and decided to head to Mackinaw City for the night.  The next day we had an exciting day planned, we were heading to the Upper Peninsula and going to Mackinaw Island.

Dare to Share #436

It is Friday night, and you know what that means..
It is time to Dare to Share

Happy Fall Y'all!  I am not actually southern, but I have seen that statement everywhere on fall decor.  It is definitely starting to feel like fall where I live.  We have a few more warm days, but next week it will be boots and sweater weather.  I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to summer, but I do live wearing cute boots. :)

Now that my computer is up and running again, I was able to post two posts this week.  I posted a new post from our summer vacation, Our visit to Grand Haven, Ludington and Manistee

I also shared my favorite Dollar Tree Halloween Finds. I am very excited about all the cute things that the Dollar Tree has out this year for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  So many cute things for crafting, decorating, and even parties.

Well it looks like it is about time to get this party started.  So link up and HAVE FUN!!

My Favorite Dollar Tree Halloween Finds

If you have been following my blog for awhile, you know that I am a huge fan of the Dollar Tree.  Every year they seem to step up their game, and offer some amazing things. I was so excited for many of their Halloween options.  Here are some of my favorites.  There were so many things that I broke it up into a couple of posts.  While the stores are starting to bring out Christmas items now, you can still find many of these items in your local store.

These light up boxes were such a fun find. Each box has a lot of fine details and a color changing tea light inside.

Their line of cardboard storage boxes come in multiple sizes and designs.  I chose the mummy to use as a small  candy container.  The coffins have a fun surprise in each box.

I have not seen the Halloween storage boxes before.  I am posting both the front covers and side view.  They come in two different sizes.  To covers open up to a hollow inside where you can hide or store things.

These ice cube trays/molds can be used to add a special touch to your next Halloween party.

The table top wooden signs are a sturdy and cute.  I can't decide which one is my favorite.

This book is technically not a Halloween book, but the names of the recipes are perfect for a party.  All of the recipes have a zombie theme.

There are so many amazing Halloween signs this year. This welcome sign with spell bottles is definitely my favorite.

Another great find for a Halloween party are these wall murals/photo backdrops that are a great deal for only $1.  There a few other designs available in addition to these

If you have younger kids, these ghost signs are definitely  more sweet than scary.

How cute are their Halloween garlands?! There were several options to choose from.  The skeletons and black cats are my favorites.  They would be cute in a classroom, are at a kids party.

These LED projection lights work really well, and would be great to use if we are able to have Trick or Treat this year.

Being a crafter, I have been blown away by all the Halloween craft supplies that are available this year.  The customizable  words are a really good quality.  I am not sure how I am going to decorate them, but I am happy to have them in my craft stash.

I hope you like what Halloween items you have seen so far, there is definitely more to come.  I have been keeping an eye on the upcoming Christmas items, and I can tell you right now, I am going to be in trouble!
