Cinderella Tower Photo Booth

Recently I shared about my really big birthday.  Since it was the weekend of Halloween, my party was costume themed, and I was Cinderella.  It is not often that I get to dress up like a princess, so this was the perfect time. I knew I wanted to have a photo booth at my party, and decided to decorate it to match my costume.  This is how I made my Cinderella Tower Photo Booth. 

I had access to several moving boxes, which I knew were the perfect size for the towers.  I used 4 large, and 2 medium.  A friend helped me to stack them into tall towers and tape them together with shipping tape  We did it in such a way that it could be removed, and the boxes could be used again 

Using the rock wall backdrop that I talked about in my birthday post, a friend and I wrapped the box towers.  Sorry for the blurry pic. We were decorating late the night before the party, and did not have a lot of light.  

This picture has a better view of the rock backdrop.  I also hung a clock fan that had the hands just before midnight.  I believe this was originally a New Years Eve decoration.

Beside the booth was all kind of props, and frames that could be used when taking pictures. 

We had a lot of fun posing in the tower photo booth.

Cinderella Party Bags

I LOVED the movie Cinderella.  I had been planning on working on a Cinderella party for the blog ever since we saw it opening weekend.  I am finally able to work on it now that my daughter is starting to feel better, and our schedule is getting a little lighter.  One of the first projects I wanted to share our my Cinderella Party Bags. 

I started to this project with a gift bag from the dollar store and a piece of scrapbook paper as close to Cinderella's gown as I could find.  I cut out a basic dress shape from the cardstock. 

I knew I wanted to add some tulle to the gown, so I went through what I had on hand to find which color matched the best. I ended up going with the long piece wrapped in white paper  on the left.  It has a little bit of shimmer to it, and matched the paper perfectly. 

I wanted to add several layers of tulle but not make it too bulky and hard to work with.  I ended up using four layers and secured it on the back side of the gown with tape. 

It was a little harder to add the tulle to the top of the bodice. I applied several layers and secured it with a scrapbooking tape runner.   In the movie there were several butterflies on this part of the dress.  I would love to add some, but I have not found any that small yet.  I did add a small stick on jewel  to give the dress some bling.  

I felt the bag needed something else.  I asked my daughter, and of course she said, add more jewels.  A princess like Cinderella has to have jewels.  I also had some matching tissue paper on hand that is perfect for gift giving.

Cinderella Butterflies and Paper Review

Have you had the chance to see the new Cinderella movie yet?  Kara and I saw it opening weekend, and we have to say it has become a new favorite.  Butterflies can be seen throughout this beautiful movie.   In the beginning of the movie,  Ella receives a purple origami butterfly from her father.  It becomes one of her most prized possessions.  When Fairy Godmother's magic transforms the ball gown, butterflies decorate both the dress and her glass slippers.  You can frequently see butterflies flying in the outdoor scenes.  Since butterflies are such an important theme, Kara helped me  put together some origami butterflies perfect for a Cinderella themed Party.  

We had recently been asked if we would like to try Orchid Origami Paper, and since Kara loves Origami, of course we said yes.  The first thing we noticed was it came in 10 gorgeous colors. We knew this paper would be perfect to use for this butterfly project.  Kara made all of the butterflies in a short amount of time.  I asked her what she thought about the paper. She said it has a good quality, and is easy to fold. She liked the size (6 x 6 inches) and thinks it would be great for paper projects of all kinds. Even though the color is only on one side, when folding into butterflies you do not see the white side.  When asked if she would recommend the paper, she said "definitely". 

Using a butterfly origami pattern found in multiple places online, Kara shows step by step how to make a butterfly. 

Step 1.   Fold your paper in half in both directions. 

Step 2.  Fold the paper diagonally in both directions. 

Step 3. Lay the paper flat, and then fold the sides in forming a triangle 

Step 4. Fold the corners of the top layer up to the center point, forming a diamond shape. 

Step 5. Flip the paper over, and fold the top corner over the top edge. Fold the corner tip behind.  

Step 6.  Turn the butterfly over and fold along the center line.  When you let go, it should look something like this.   

You can use these butterflies as party decorations, a craft project, gift toppers and so much more.
