Our Halloween Mantel

We love Halloween in our house, but not the super scary version. This year I had Kara decorate our mantel.  I have to say I was quite impressed when I saw it, because I had never thought to use all one color.I love the look of all black.  What is also really cool, is most of the items were extremely inexpensive, and we already had them all in our decor stash.  I do think though, it is probably time to take down the butterflies. LOL!  We had a butterfly themed party in the summer for Kara's birthday. She loved the butterfly decals so much she asked if we could keep them up for awhile. I also might take down the pictures. I usually do during my holiday decorating.

I don't remember when we got the black cat. We have had him for quite awhile.  I do know that I bought him on clearance from Target.

The glitter pumpkin was from the Target Dollar Spot, and the raven from the dollar store.

The feathery black owl is from the dollar store. The black cat pumpkin is part of the pumpkin gang.  I made it a few years ago from a dollar store pumpkin. We used to have a black cat, and it always reminds us of him. He was a total sweetheart.

The M initial is always on our mantel. It just happened to be black.

I made this easy spider wreath a few years ago using dollar store items. While some people are not a fan of spiders, these two are too cute to be scary.

The black color theme of the mantel is what inspired to make my black feathered owl wall hanging, I may even make a few more black decorations before this Halloween season is over.

  1. I really like the idea of an all black decorated mantel, too. Maybe next year I'll try that!

    1. I think we will be doing it again in the future too. It makes me proud that she has such a creative sense at such a young age.
