Make a Recycle Monster

Recycle Monsters for Earth Day, kids crafts

Today is Earth Day, a day when we become more aware of ways to save the Earth.  I recently saw this idea in Family Fun, and I thought what a great way to teach kids to recycle.  All you need to make a Recycle Monster is two paper bags of a the same size, scrap paper, and a glue stick.

Tomorrow is Earth Day, and Mother's Day will be here in just a couple of weeks. When I saw this Wall Plant Hanger by Wesens-Art I knew it would be the perfect craft for both of those special days.   Not only are you recycling, but they are pretty enough to give as gifts.  Be sure to stop over to Wesens-Art blog to see how to make your own wall plant hanger.  Thank you so much for linking up this great post to Dare to Share!

How to Make an Earth Day Necklace

In just 11 days, on April 22nd, it will be Earth Day.  I was curious as to how Earth Day started, and did a little bit of research.   The first official Earth Day was in 1970.  Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin had been trying to get a day recognized about the environment  for most of the 60s.  He finally saw it happen on April 22, 1970. Earth Day Necklace

Clay Earth Day Bead Necklace

A few years ago, when my daughter was in kindergarten, she gave me a wonderful Mothers Day gift.  It was a necklace with a bead that looked like the Earth and a card that said.. "You Mean The World To Me!"  I really love that necklace she made when she was 5, and since then we have made several more.   Last year for Earth Day, our school had a special interest day where we learned about being green. As a gift to her class, we made beads for every child in the class to wear that day.  The kids loved them.  With Earth Day coming up again next week, I thought this would be the perfect craft for this week's tutorial.
