Elsa's Ice Candy
If you have seen the movie Frozen, you know that Princess Elsa has the power to create ice and snow. After something happens in the kingdom, Elsa goes up on a mountain and builds herself a beautiful ice palace to live in.

Cloudy with Chance of Meatballs 2 - Party Food and Decor
Party Food
If you have had a chance to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, you know that many of the stars in this movie are Foodimals. A Foodimal is half animal, half food. Because of the cuteness factor of the Foodimals, some kids might have an issue with eating them. One thing great about doing a Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs party, you can pretty much choose any type of food, and it is most likely in the movie.

Rainbow Party Ideas
One thing that I really liked about having an Art Themed Party, it was very easy to come up with the color scheme. We knew right away we wanted to use all the colors of the rainbow. Here are some of the bright and colorful things that we made for our party.
At first I thought I would get 6 or 7 glass jars, and fill them with each individual color of the rainbow. I only had three jars though, so we chose three types of colorful candy. We filled the jars with gumballs, gummy bears and skittles.

Our Art Themed Slumber Party
This past weekend we threw Kara an Art themed slumber party. Three of her closest friends were able to come. There would have been a couple more girls, but unfortunately they were out of town and were unable to attend. Sometimes it is hard to have your birthday near a holiday when everyone goes on vacation.
I had placed most of the art supplies for the party on the special party station table that I made from our old changing table. (You can see how I made it here.)
On the top shelf I placed some of the rainbow color treats we had made. There was rainbow rock candy, and fruity pebble paintbrushes. I also had jars of rainbow colored candy. (there will be another post later this week about our rainbow treats and decor)
On the lower shelves I had stored all of the art supplies and crafts that we were going to need during the party. There were markers, colored pencils, paintbrushes and paints. I also bought a canvas multipack, and a friendship bracelet kit for the girls to use if they wished.
We had planned on cooking out on the grill, but when we tried to start it up it would not light. (it's a gas grill) We had to go with plan B, which was to cook the hotdogs and hamburgers on the stove. We also snacked on pizza pasta salad, a special fruit salsa with lime chips, and rainbow fruit with orange cream dip. (pictured) I will be sharing a couple of those recipes soon.
After eating we had some fun using the photo frames I found on clearance at Michaels. In the picture above, the girls posed as if they were portraits on the wall.
In this picture they were trapped inside the frames. They had so much fun coming up with all the creative pictures.
You might have seen this picture of the frames hanging in the tree on my Dare to Share Link Up post. It was their idea, and I just love how it turned out.
I love this photo that the girls came up with too!
After we were done taking pictures, it was time for the graffiti cake that Kara designed. I frosted the cake with all white frosting, and then she sprayed it with Wilton Color Mist. She had wanted to make it tie dye, but I did not have all of the supplies. When she saw the spray, she liked that idea better.
One of the items we sent home in their goody bags were flip flops that the girls embellished with fabric scraps
They did spend some time during the party painting.
We also took a lot more photos inside in front of the rainbow backdrop. It ended up being a late night for everyone. I know it was a least 2 a.m. when I went to bed, and the girls were still wide awake. It is kind of funny to call an overnight party a slumber party, because it is rare to get much sleep.

How to make a crepe paper party chandelier
In this post I am going to share a fun and easy party decorating idea that you can use for all kind of parties.
I am planning a big birthday for one of my best friends later this summer. I am planning to make a special chandelier for her party.

Today I remembered how I used the hanging baskets to make these crepe paper chandeliers for my daughter's slumber party. While we went with a rainbow theme, I think these would also be really cute in red, white and blue for any upcoming Memorial Day or 4th of July party.

My daughter helped me wrap long pieces of crepe paper around the top rim of the hanging basket.
While the crepe paper is easy to make, there is an easy way to hang it without making holes in your ceiling. I attached a small command hook on the ceiling and removed it when the party was over.
It was super simple, and my daughter and her friends loved it.

My Top 13 Posts in 2013
I just went through my posts of 2013 this past weekend. Some of the top posts I was expecting, a few were a surprise. I now see why I had the highest number of views in September. That was when I featured my Despicable Me 2 Party, and people seem to love Despicable Me. All of my posts from that party were in the top 6 of my most viewed posts of the year. I also had three money saving posts in the top 13. I think this means I will have to share more money saving tips in the upcoming year. Another interesting thing that I noticed is that most of the crafts on the list were made from recycled items, three of the crafts specifically were made from cardboard tubes..

Rock Trolls - Feature of the Day
As you may know from my many Frozen posts, like my Olaf Pumpkin, and Elsa's Ice Candy that I have a soft spot for all things Frozen. When thinkng of Frozen party ideas. I had wondered what to do for the Rock Trolls. There's Just One Mommy had the great idea to have her party guests make them using actual rocks. They loved it, and got to bring home their own Rock Troll as a keepsake from the party. Stop on over to There's Just One Mommy to see more about their craft project. It's Friday night, which means it is time to Dare to Share.!
How was your Halloween night? While you can not tell in this picture, we were freezing! We had rain, sleet, snow, wind and temps in the 30s. Not the best night for trick or treating. I did, however, love how my porch turned out. (I will be posting more tomorrow)
Earlier this week, I share how to make Glowing Alien Heads. I had planned on using them tonight to light the way to our front door, but it was way too windy out.
I had planned on sharing a few more posts this week, but between getting ready for Halloween, our regular activities, a choir concert, finals at the high school, and my birthday, I there was not a lot of time for projects. Thankfully, we now have a four day weekend to recouperate. (teacher professional development days)

Last Minute Halloween Ideas
Are you still working on Halloween at the very last minute this year like I am? With everything going on this week (school finals, extra activities, my birthday), we just have not had time to get everything done. Last night Kara had a choir concert, and by the time we got home and had dinner, it was too late to carve the pumpkins. (at least they are gutted) We will be finishing them today, as well as finishing decorating for the trick or treaters. In case there were other people needing last minute ideas, I am featuring many posts that can be done last minute from the last several weeks of Dare to Share.

Dare to Share #210
It is Friday night, and you know what that means.
It is time to Dare to Share!
Do you remember when I posted about Surviving Kindergarten a little over a week ago? Well it looks like I did not really survive. Last week I mentioned I was sick (most likely from the day I taught kindergarten), well I am still sick this week, and spread it to my own kids. Today I could have taken a job at the elementary school, but it was with very young kids again.. I knew it might not be a good idea because either I would give them my germs, or they would give me some new ones. Hopefully I finally start to get over this in the next few days.
With the movie The Jungle Book and Zootopia coming out recently, and the upcoming Life of Pets coming out soon, we will be sharing animal party ideas over the next few weeks. Today I shared the first once. When my kids were younger we had a Safari Party and many of the ideas could be used for a Jungle Party.

I will be sharing features for the last weeks party and this week's party this week! Hopefully I will finally be feeling better.
