Happy Platypus Day!

If you have kids who like to watch Disney channel like me,  you know that today is Platypus Day.  They have been running a Phineas and Ferb marathon for the last few hours.  While sorting all of my baking supplies in my new baking station (which you will see very soon), I  came across bags of both blue and orange candy melts.  "Knowing then what I was going to do today",  I whipped up some Perry the Platypus pops.

The first thing I did was melt a little bit of the orange candy melts in the microwave and place it in a plastic baggie.

Making a small cute on one corner of the bag, I made some tails and beaks out of the chocolate.  I have off brand baggies, which were very flimsy.  You will have better control of the chocolate if you use freezer bags, because they are much sturdier.  Allow the chocolate to harden. If desired, place in the fridge or freezer for a couple of minutes. It hardens rather quickly either way.

I used jumbo sized marshmallow treats for two of the Perrys, and a smaller cereal treat for the third one. It is best to use craft sticks for the bigger pops, because they are too heavy for a smaller stick.

After covering the rice krispie treats in the blue melted chocolate, I laid them on sheet of wax paper.  I used flattened mini marshmallows for the eyes, and added the orange pieces.

They were quick and easy to make, and the kids love them.
