Dare to Share #86

It's Friday night, you know what that means..
It's time to Dare to Share!

How was your week?  Mine was a bit crazy as usual!

On Sunday I was having a crafting day with the girls and one of Kara's friends.  We knew we had a pretty bad storm coming our way.  Around 8 p.m our power flickered off 3 times in a row and then the 4th time it was out for good.  We were lucky not to get the tornadoes that hit Illinois and Indiana, but we did have very strong wind.  It was strong enough to take my neighbors mailbox right out of the ground.  We were not really prepared.. We did not have fully charged phones, or a lot of extra water.  It got a bit chilly overnight in the house.  I do have to say though, the dollar store battery tea lights were a perfect light source that was also very safe. I highly recommended having some on hand for emergencies. As you know we have a lot of animals. We have a couple that need heat (the hedgehog, and bearded dragon) so we tried to do what we could with extra blankets and towels.  On Monday the kids did not have school because several of the schools did not have power.  We went to a friends house t get warm, take showers, and charge our electronics. We were told by our electric company that it could been another day or two, but luckily our power came back on a little after 5.  On Tuesday my older two did not have school, because there was no power at the high school.  Kara's school did, so she had to go. Luckily she was pretty cool about it.   Having no school and the power out, threw all of us off track, and it would take until Thursday to get fully back to normal.

Since I was unable to finish my projects with the power out, I had the chance to share Ways to Save at Target that you might not know about.  Target was already my favorite store, and with this extra ways to save, I love it even more.

Yesterday I had to chance to finish my partially completed Turkey Napkin Rings, but not without causing myself in injury!  I don't know about you, but I hardly ever can use a glue gun without burning myself at least once.  While it feels fine now, I caused myself a pretty good blister on one of my fingers.. OUCH!  Other than the glue gun injury, these napkin rings were quick and easy to make, and look really cute guarding those napkins.

Today's Thanksgiving craft is my Turkey Votive. Can you guess what I used to make the head?  You might be surprised.  This sweet guy lights up with one of those sweet tea light candles that I used during the power outage.

I have several more partially completed Thanksgiving projects that I will be sharing every day up to Thanksgiving.. Stay tuned...

Have you had a chance to see the Features of the Day? Here is your second chance if you missed them the first time.
