Changing Table to Party Table

For many years, my kids' baby furniture sat in storage. A few years ago I decided it was time to let it go, and put it in the garage sale.  There was some interest in the changing table, but it did not end up selling.  Since it came in handy to put things on it's shelves, the changing table found a home in the garage.  Just before this year's garage sale, I had an idea.  Why not redo the changing table, so I would be able to use it again.  I did use it in the garage sale to hold items, and  left the sticker on just in case someone really needed it.  When someone was actually interested in buying it, in my head I was thinking...No! I want to keep it now!  They decided not to buy it, because they were not sure if the person having a baby already had one or not.

I had been thinking about painting it a pretty blue or turquoise color, so I was thrilled when I found something very close at Home Depot for only $7.

I had to remove the top bar which came off easily with just a screwdriver, and remove the strap.

Once it was ready, I brought it in the house. (after using the vacuum cleaner, so nothing extra came in the house with it)
It was the perfect size to hold all of our art supplies and goodies without taking up too much room.

I will be linking up my new party table on these wonderful linky parties here!

    1. Thanks Elaine.. Before I started reading a bunch of DIY blogs, I would not have given the changing table a second thought.

    1. Sometimes it is a good thing that I am very slow to get rid of things. The last child to use this is now 12 years old. :)

  8. What a great idea! You could put some wheels on the bottom too and really have a functional piece!

    1. I didn't think to add wheels. That would make it much easier to move around.

  12. Really great re-use of a changing table. Very creative. Love the plastic table cloth used as rainbow decoration. We have done the same thing for our rainbow party. :-) Jodi @ www.meaningfulmama.com

    1. Thank you! I still have the rainbow decor hanging up. One of the girls who wasn't able to come to the original party, is here for a special make up day. I hope to get a few pictures of her and my daughter before I take it down.
