I bought a box of Rice Krispie Treats on sale at Meijer this week. I wanted to make a quick and easy football treat for the NFL kick off today. (even though my team is not playing tonight).
I chose to use the smallest size Rice Krispie treat. I opened the packages, and Kara helped me form them into footballs. (sort of!) If you want more precise footballs, it would be best to use a cookie cutter. Since these are just for my kids, these were close enough.
At first we just placed the sticks into the treats, but when we tried to cover the first one the stick was too loose.
I used light cocoa candy melts to cover the footballs. It was the perfect shade of brown. I melted them in a glass bowl, using the 30 second method. I placed some melted chocolate over the bottom of the football, and then reinserted the stick. Once the chocolate hardened, the stick was much more secure.
The kids loved the pops, and they literally only took minutes to make.
